Station type of work - Station type
of work: Willcox station does a variety of things. They
patrol east from Benson (303 exit) to the New Mexico border
and South from those points into Tombstone and the immediate
surrounding areas. Checkpoint duty 1-2 miles north of
Tombstone. Lot of off road patrolling as well as a lot
of hiking during "tracking" around the scenic
Chiracahua Mountains, etc. Routine IA processing as well
as "VR" runs to Douglas and Tucson. Plenty of
AUO available here as well. Rumor has it that an additional
Checkpoint to be place on 191 South, nothing set in stone
yet.
Shopping - Safeway, Alco (quasi "mini"
Wal-Mart), ACE, Movie Gallery and a lot of small businesses
offering a variation of needs.
Eateries - McDonalds, Taco Bell,
KFC, Subway, Jack in the Box, 3 mexican food places, 1
chinese food, 1 Italian, 1 Greek and numerous pizza places
and breakfast joints.
Cellular Telephone - Sprint, Nextel, Alltel

cable, Peoples PC(dial up service) and Quest offers dial
up internet service.

Airport: There is a small airstrip here but I was
unable to obtain any information on that.
Any other information that you would
like to add: Benson is rapidly growing. It is estimated
that Benson will grow to the current size of Sierra Vista
within ten years. Numerous housing projects are coming
up as well as plans for Super Wal-Mart in 2006. You're
only about 45 minutes (50 miles) from Tucson and a little
over 30 miles from Sierra Vista to do the major shopping.
Plenty of Golf courses and scenery in this area. St. David,
Pomerene and Mescal/J-Six Ranch are all more or less a
part of Benson and offer great housing when available.
