EXTRA HELP -
Here are some people who are glad to give
you a helping hand
Name: Shauna
Station type of work - For the most part all
the Agents work well with each other. The Management is
pretty good.
There is a lot of good work in Ajo and a
smaller station (approx 70 Agents). They have a small
checkpoint, and couple roving X's (no hard X's that I
know of).
It is mostly patrol, sign cutting, tracking,
you know real patrol work. They have about 75 miles of
just border not counting interior. So they have a large
area to cover. They catch a variety of things, illegal's,
dope, etc.
They back up local Sheriff and respond to
citizen calls. Since I left, they have added Horse Patrol,
K-9, and Motorcycle Patrol. They also have ATV's. They
have a disrupt unit now also.
Shopping - One IGA grocery store, one pharmacy
Go to Phoenix!!
Eateries - Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen a couple
of local mexican restaurants, Bamboo Village Chinese Restaurant--excellent
food!
Cellular Telephone - Alltel
Local Internet Providers - Table Top Telephone
Schools: Ajo
Other Services -
Ajo has one outpatient clinic and two doctors. Medical
professionals also one internist/cardiologist, an orthopedist,
a podiatrist, two chiropractors, and one physical therapist
that comes once a week from Phoenix.
Any other information that you would like to add:
Transportation services to Tucson and Phoenix and throughout
Ajo are provided by Ajo Stage Lines.
This town is very small. Some agents live as much as an
hour
away, just to be near a town. The closest actual city
is a little over an
hour away. We have one school for K-12 that has 575 kids.
There is a Christian Academy at one of the local churches,
but it is just getting
started and is full and they only take kids until 8th
grade.
We have very limited medical resources and most families
go to Phoenix or Tucson
for medical care. We have no day care, all of the child
care in town
is done at someone's home.
